Are these your ideal travel companions?

Who do you like to travel with? If you enjoy discovering the world with your family or friends then you are in good company, as a survey conducted by AccorHotels finds that the preferred travel companions are spouses (67%), children (44%) and friends (36%).

The survey was carried out in collaboration with research institute, GfK, among 5,939 respondents from Europe, US and Asia to find who your ideal travel companion would be.

About 19% of these respondents consider their favourite travel companion to be none other than themselves, with  25% of Germans, Americans and Indians saying they prefer to go away on their own.

A higher number of young travellers aged 18 to 24 also desire to enjoy their own company when away, choosing ‘me, my Internet connection and nothing else’ for  company.

Surprisingly Chinese travellers seem quite enthusiastic to go on vacation with their colleagues (74%) and bosses (40%).

On what they miss most when far from home, about half of those surveyed (47%) say a free Internet connection that works properly. This is especially true in the 18-24 age group with 54% vs. 40% of people aged 50 to 65.

Internet  connection tops the five things people miss travelling. The other four are family and friends (40%), bed and pillows (38%), pets (37%) and speaking their native language (37%).
