Traveloka, a key travel platform in Southeast Asia, has announced that it has formed a partnership with the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) aimed at showcasing experiences and attractions in Hong Kong to travellers across the region. The collaboration comes at a time when Hong Kong’s tourism sector is experiencing a resurgence following the reopening of international borders.

Traveloka currently offers a range of transport, accommodation, and travel activities products. Established in Indonesia in 2012, Traveloka has expanded its presence to five Southeast Asian countries and has become a popular travel platform in the region, with over 40 million Monthly Active Users.

According to data released by HKTB, there has been a significant increase in visitors to Hong Kong from Singapore, with close to 66,000 visitors recorded from January to February 2024, marking a 162.8% increase compared to the same period last year.

To capitalise on this growing interest in Hong Kong, Traveloka is offering travel deals through its app that encompass flights, hotels, and other travel activities.

The collaboration between Traveloka and HKTB aims to strengthen Traveloka’s position as a travel partner in Southeast Asia while promoting Hong Kong as a premier destination for travellers from the region. Caesar Indra, President of Traveloka, highlighted the significance of this partnership, noting the increasing popularity of Hong Kong among travellers using the platform.

Indra stated, “Hong Kong is among the popular destinations on our platform, with sales of flight tickets to the city almost quadrupling in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared to the same period last year.” He emphasised that the collaboration with HKTB would further promote global destinations and encourage travellers to explore new experiences.

Liew Chian Jia, Regional Director, Southeast Asia of Hong Kong Tourism Board, emphasised the importance of partnering with Traveloka to enhance Hong Kong’s tourism potential. Jia expressed aspirations to attract more travellers from Southeast Asia to explore Hong Kong and contribute positively to the aviation and hospitality industries in the region.

Hong Kong, known as Asia’s World City, offers a diverse array of attractions and experiences for travellers – from world-renowned theme parks like Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park Hong Kong to scenic trekking routes such as Dragon’s Back and Lamma Islands.

Additionally, cultural events and festivals such as the Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival also showcase Hong Kong’s rich heritage.
