Acquisition aims to enhance payments experience between a range of different players across the travel ecosystem

Technology provider Amadeus has finalised the acquisition of Voxel as a strategic move to enhance its payment solutions.

Voxel, known for electronic invoicing and B2B payment solutions for various travel stakeholders including travel sellers, hotels, and other players, brings along its expertise and a robust suite of services to Amadeus. The integration of Voxel’s offerings into Amadeus’ portfolio is expected to fortify the latter’s foothold in the payments segment, particularly through its existing business unit, Outpayce.

The acquisition opens new avenues for Amadeus to cater to the diverse needs of its clientele across the travel ecosystem. By leveraging Voxel’s advanced solutions, Amadeus aims to streamline payment processes, automate invoicing, and enhance overall efficiency for travel sellers, tour operators, hotel aggregators, and corporate clients alike.

Decius Valmorbida, President of Travel at Amadeus, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, emphasising its potential to enrich Amadeus’ end-to-end offerings and foster innovation within the travel industry. He highlighted the significance of seamless payments in enhancing the travel experience and reiterated Amadeus’ commitment to driving positive change across the sector.

Àngel Garrido, CEO of Voxel, echoed Valmorbida’s sentiments, stating that the amalgamation of Voxel’s technology with Amadeus’ global reach presents a compelling opportunity for growth and innovation. Garrido emphasised the shared vision of both companies in advancing automated and integrated solutions for the travel industry.

David Doctor, CEO of Outpayce, underscored the acquisition as a milestone in Amadeus’ journey toward delivering frictionless travel payments. He highlighted the synergies between Voxel’s capabilities and Outpayce’s objectives, foreseeing enhanced offerings and a strengthened payment ecosystem for travel companies.

Voxel’s Bavel Platform, known for its end-to-end electronic payment process, caters to a wide spectrum of clients spanning over 100 countries. The company boasts more than 100 million transactions processed annually.

Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, Voxel brings over 200 skilled professionals to Amadeus.
