A new website, backed by AirAsia Expedia, is being touted as the world’s first hotel booking site where friends help pay for each other’s travel.

Conceptualised in Singapore and launched across 11 Asia Pacific countries, backick.com is, as its developers put it, the ‘first-of-its-kind online venture that makes booking hotels a fun, social experience and uses Facebook Connect to enhance the discount-sharing feature”.

The site is described as a “unique social reward scheme” with the mantra, “it pays to be popular”, and aims to encourage digital savvy travellers to tap into their online community to maximise the amount of cash rewards (backicks) earned.

The website provides deals at 80% off normal rates, as well as competitive prices when using coupons and backicks. Travellers can thus spend less time comparing hotel prices and more time planning holidays.

On booking any of the 100,000 hotels available worldwide on backick.com travellers can immediately pass on the discount coupons to their network of friends, and earn backicks when these coupons are used for hotel stays.

To earn the rewards travellers just need to log into the website with their Facebook account. Once they “Connect” they can start to share and earn backicks in any of the following ways:

Click “Send Coupons” to share 5% discount coupons from the website. Friends and family will be notified by email on receipt of the backicks.
Book a hotel on backick.com and a 5% discount coupon will be shared to Facebook friends.
When Facebook friends use these discounts they kick back discount coupons and backicks.
