dash robot2InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has hired a delivery robot – Dash – at its Crowne Plaza San Jose-Silicon Valley hotel.

Created by Savioke, specialty makers of robots for the hospitality industry, Dash is expected to cut down service time by providing quick and seamless delivery of snacks, toothbrushes and other amenities to hotel guests.

Go early: tighter security at China airports

shanghai-airportIf you are catching a flight from a China airport, get there earlier. More traffic in the summer travel peak, preparations for activities marking the 70th anniversary of victory in World War II, and tighter security measures, have meant airports in China could get more chaotic.

Airports across the country started to tighten security starting August 1 and some passengers have reportedly missed their flights.

Beachgoers who hog the sand risk fines

beachHolidaymakers at a Spanish resort risk being fined for reserving their sunbathing spot by putting towels on the sand.

Torrox on the Costa del Sol has a new beach police patrol that will confiscate property left on the beach.

Owners can only reclaim their items by paying a fee of 30 euros (US$33).
