Loyalty programme specialist Kaligo Travel Solutions has partnered with Hainan Airlines’ loyalty programme Fortune Wings Club to launch China’s first non-air redemption programme on its travel booking platform.
This enables 18 million Fortune Wings Club members to redeem Fortune Wings Club Points for car rentals at over 200 countries worldwide.
Fortune Wings Club members can book cars and hotels entirely with Points or with Points + Cash.
According to Kaligo’s chief executive officer Kyle Armstrong, Kaligo is “evaluating customer demand” and may offer other non-air options such as cruises and activities in the future.
“Most Chinese airline loyalty programs offer redemption options for consumer products. Our collaboration made Hainan Fortune Wings Club the first Chinese airline to offer real-time hotel and car redemption options in China,” said Armstrong.
“We are seeing that our programme benefits for this innovative booking platform for hotel bookings. Now this car rental redemption’s launch will help our members to enjoy road trips when traveling around the world.”
China is one of its fastest growing markets – it is also collaborating with Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines.
“The Chinese domestic and international travel market is growing at a massive rate. Still, the airline loyalty programme market has been relatively nascent, generating engagement from limited segments of frequent flyers and business travellers.
But we’re seeing a shift to the mass market where even the most casual Chinese traveller is quickly becoming very savvy and are demanding more choices and better value from airlines,” said Armstrong.
Kaligo Travel Solutions is operated by Kaligo Pte Ltd, a provider of travel and loyalty technology. Established in Singapore in 2014 with offices across Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas, Kaligo Travel Solutions works with more than 50 loyalty programmes globally.
