Chan Chee Chong: “I’d like to credit the real innovators, GlobalTix clients who constantly challenge us to improve our products”.

Said Chan Chee Chong, CEO and co-founder of GlobalTix, “Like all business ideas, it started with a problem statement. Our clients were the one who pitched the idea to us when they were seeking technologies to help with digital wallet acceptance. To be recognised by Singapore Tourism Board is extra sweet, but I’d like to credit the real innovators, GlobalTix clients who constantly challenge us to improve our products. This award means everything to the team in GlobalTix. It encourages us to keep trying and innovate solutions.”

The SDC’s “Discovery Neverending NFTs” programme allowed customers to “own a unique piece of Sentosa”. Running between September 23 and October 14, to mark the island’s Golden Jubilee, it gave away Islanders 1,972 exclusive NFT artworks.

STB noted that the campaign “successfully drove brand awareness and engagement by leveraging the popularity of non-fungible tokens (NFT) among their target segments. The innovative marketing plan – which had a clear analysis and mapping of audience behaviour – increased sign-ups for SDC’s loyalty programme and garnered high participation, receiving 1.96 million impressions on their social channels.”

In Experience Excellence (Leisure), Avatar: The Experience by NEON, Disney Location-Based Experiences and Lightstorm Entertainment won Outstanding Attraction Experience and Kayak Sailing in Singapore, Mangrove and Culinary Adventure by Kayak Fishing Fever won “Outstanding Tour Experience”.

The Singapore Tourism Awards seeks to raise the sector’s competitiveness by motivating individuals and organisations to create compelling experiences and adopt best practices. Recipients were selected from 90 finalists nominated for the categories of Experience Excellence (Leisure/MICE), Enterprise Excellence and Customer Service Excellence.

The highest accolade, Lifetime Achievement for Outstanding Contribution to Tourism, went to George Tanasijevich, former President and CEO/Managing Director of Marina Bay Sands. He spearheaded Las Vegas Sands Corporation’s successful bid in 2006 to develop the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort.

STB chief Executive Keith Tan said, “I congratulate all our award recipients and finalists for their outstanding achievements. Their efforts have strengthened Singapore’s tourism sector and enhanced the experiences of visitors to Singapore. I hope their achievements will inspire others in the tourism sector to step up and perform even better in the future.”
