Grab, fresh on the heels of adding four services in a bid to evolve from ride-hailing app to super app, announced it has invested in and formed a “strategic partnership” with Singapore-based logistics services provider Ninja Van.
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
The partnership sees Ninja Van’s logistics services integrated into the Grab app via GrabExpress, which will be available in the second quarter of this year, said the companies in a press statement.
GrabExpress, Grab’s on-demand parcel and courier delivery service, is available in 150 cities while Ninja Van covers more than 450 cities across the region in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia.

The collaboration expands GrabExpress’s delivery services beyond its current on-demand and same-day parcel/courier delivery service to include more options like nationwide scheduled deliveries, as well as inter-city parcel delivery.
Ninja Van will work towards adopting GrabPay across its platform and collaborate to roll out lending and insurance products offered by Grab Financial Group to its merchants and delivery partners.
“We’re excited about this partnership and how it will change the game for smaller businesses and social selling communities in South-east Asia, even for consumers who may send parcels from time to time,” said Lai Chang Wen, co-founder and CEO of Ninja Van.
Adelene Foo, head of GrabExpress, added that with e-commerce and social commerce becoming “increasingly ubiquitous” in South-east Asia, the company is “committed” to helping e-commerce micro-entrepreneurs scale their businesses across the region.
“This partnership with Ninja Van enables us to offer the widest range of delivery options in South-east Asia from within the Grab app, and make it easy for sellers, buyers and merchants to send and receive parcels.”
