‘Nothing like Australia’ comes to Singapore

Three months after it launched its new “There’s Nothing Like Australia” brand story, Tourism Australia has brought the campaign to Singapore.

It is inviting Singapore residents to share their favourite Australian holiday stories, to be posted alongside the 3,500 Australian entries it collected when it launched the new brand at the Australian Tourism Exchange held in Adelaide in May.

From September 15 through to October 8, Singaporeans can submit their experience at www.nothinglikeaustralia.com/sg.

Twenty four entries will be selected as finalists and public voting for the winning entry will commence on the 15 October and go through to 29 October. The winning entry will win a self designed Australian adventure worth $15,000. Five lucky voters will stand to win a Canon PowerShot G11 camera worth $799 each.

Singapore is Australia’s sixth largest inbound market for arrivals, with 285,300 Singaporeans visiting Australia in 2009. About 86% are repeat visitors.

As part of the new brand campaign, Tourism Australia created an interactive map of Australia, at www.australia.com, using 3,500 stories out of 29,000 entries by every day Australians who were called upon to share all the things that they find special about their country. A search engine function allows search by experience, type, location or by up to 1,000 select keywords.

Tourism Australia pandered to the eight out of 10 Australians who said they know what makes their country unlike any other, giving them a say so in selling the country to people abroad.
