Yatra faces Nasdaq deadline as share price slump bites

Online travel agency Yatra has until December 22, 2026 to regain Nasdaq compliance after its shares failed to maintain a $1 minimum closing bid price between May 12 and June 24, with a reverse stock split among the options under consideration; the notice comes as the company reported a 14% revenue decline to $201 million and a widened quarterly loss of $1.6 million for the three months ended March 31, even as gross bookings grew 8% to $215 million and new CEO Siddartha Gupta—who succeeded co-founder Dhruv Shringi—leads the turnaround effort.

Holibob ditches filters for conversation in new AI booking platform

Holibob has launched an AI-powered conversational booking platform that lets travelers describe their trip in plain language and receive tailored recommendations from its catalog of over 500,000 tours, activities and attractions, complete with the ability to compare, select dates and book—all within the same chat; the launch is paired with an integration into Google’s Things to Do, extending Holibob’s inventory to a wider audience as the company, a 2023 PhocusWire Hot 25 Travel Startup, continues to grow through acquisitions and funding including a $12 million Series A round and a later investment from Guinness Ventures.

Travelport and Travelsoft team up to widen airline content access across Europe

Travelport has integrated its Trip Services API into Orchestra, the Transport Hub powering Travelsoft’s ecosystem, bringing both EDIFACT and NDC airline content to Travel Compositor and eventually the group’s other platforms (including airQuest, Atcore, Tigerbay, Traffics and Travel Connection Technology), extending Travelport’s reach to more than 400 European travel agencies; the collaboration has already grown beyond basic content distribution to include post-sale servicing like exchanges, involuntary changes, ancillary services, ticketing, upsell and multi-city booking, giving agencies a more comprehensive toolkit for managing their airline business.

AI Is rewriting the rules of hotel revenue

RateGain reports that 70% of travelers across Asia Pacific are already using artificial intelligence throughout the travel journey — from inspiration and trip planning to booking, in-stay interactions, and post-trip reviews, yet hotels remain stuck in fragmented, disconnected systems. According to Anurag Jain, VP APAC & MENA at RateGain, most hotel organizations operate within fragmented technology environments where critical information is scattered across PMS, CRM, loyalty, and operational platforms that were never designed to communicate with each other, leaving hotels without a full picture of their guests.

Jain outlines ten challenges AI can help solve, including shifting focus from traffic to profitability, curbing rising guest-acquisition costs, better targeting high-value travelers, capturing revenue lost to unanswered inquiries via 24/7 multilingual AI chat and voice tools, and replacing outdated pricing with real-time market analysis. Additional priorities include improving conversion rates, engaging travelers earlier in their planning journey, moving from reactive to predictive reporting, unifying fragmented guest journeys, and speeding up decision-making as a competitive edge. Jain says RateGain’s goal is to help hotels become more discoverable, strengthen direct bookings, and consolidate fragmented vendor ecosystems into a single AI-first partner that simplifies operations rather than adding complexity.

Visa bets big on travel with Destinations platform

Visa has expanded its Visa Destinations platform to 10 major cities—including Paris, London, Dubai, Milan, Rome, Mexico City, New York City, Miami, San Francisco and Thailand—as it repositions itself from a payments provider to a travel companion. The mobile-first platform, exclusive to Visa customers, offers curated experiences across dining, entertainment, culture, hospitality, wellness, shopping and transport, including priority access to landmarks like the Top of the Rock and the Louvre, with enhanced perks for premium Visa Infinite and Signature cardholders. The move responds to Visa research showing travelers increasingly choose destinations based on passions and experiences rather than geography alone, with strong Asia Pacific interest in travel tied to concerts and sports events.

The platform is backed by anchor partners Global Blue, Star Alliance and Trip.com Group, who provide tax-free shopping benefits, access across Star Alliance’s 26 member airlines, and curated travel offerings respectively. Visa executives frame the expansion as part of a broader strategy to deepen digital commerce and cross-border payments while helping travel businesses capture more value from global tourism, with additional destinations planned later this year.
