Arrive at a destination and want to discover places and attractions without the hassle of looking through guidebooks or travel apps? Now you can do it easily on your mobile with Booking.com’s new Booking Experiences.

Experiences allows travellers to discover the destination they are in via their mobile devices through Booking.com Android and iOS app.

Booking.com claims  Experiences is “a first-of-its-kind, highly curated, mobile-led experience that will harness Artificial Intelligence technology and powerful machine-learning to predict individual traveller intent and create a truly convenient, personalised in-destination experience”.

It added that “unlike other experience-seeking tools Booking Experiences is managed entirely within its app without having to rely on or redirect to third-party websites.”

The in-destination product, which had its initial launch in Amsterdam, is now available in London, Paris, Rome and Dubai. It is expected to go live in New York in autumn.

Travellers can view the full list of available things to do and visit for their destination in advance and/or simply explore on the go once they arrive.

This is how it works: when you book a stay in one of cities offering Experiences you get access to instant booking to all the participating venues and attractions in that destination via a single QR code.

There is no need to book in advance or wait in lines to buy tickets. Just show up at the attraction, scan the code from your smartphone and enjoy. The QR code is automatically linked to your credit card.

Booking.com leverages insights from travellers about what they liked or  did not like about the destinations they visited and the experiences they had there. The Experiences technology then combines this data with the travellers’ previous travel preferences, as well as third-party data like the current waiting time at a popular museum, to personalise the in-destination experience.

“The technology behind Booking Experiences will continuously learn from your travel preferences, as well as other travellers like you to eventually present you with increasingly curated options that are just right for you. Our ultimate goal is to keep you inspired, regardless of whether it’s your first or fifth time visiting a particular location,” said David Vismans, chief product officer at Booking.com.
